Digging clay in Sweden (2022 & 2023)  

Clay.   

You might have come across it as the dark muck in puddles or as the slippery earth people make pots with. You might not have thought much about it at all. 

But, what on earth is clay? 

As a seasoned ceramicist in 2021 I was none the wiser.

In 2022, I therefore began a mission to forage clays across Sweden, from Häljeboda in the west to Södermöja in the east, to better understand what clay is.
